Furniture industry emphasizes safety

HIGH POINT Tip-over accidents cause one death every two weeks, according to an 10-year study by the Consumer Product Safety Commision. The furniture industry wants retailers and consumers to understand the risks of television and furniture tip-over and know how to prevent it.Safety was the theme at Saturday mornings press breakfast, officially ushering in the 2012 spring High Point Market, which began Saturday.In March, the American Home Furnishings Alliance conducted a telephone survey of 1,000 U.S. households on the topic of furniture safety and attempted to determine what precautions parents were taking to prevent tip-over.Jackie Hirschhaut, AHFA vice
