Steve Caprario has joined Art Van Furniture as vice president of warehousing and distribution.
Caprario's responsibilities include all aspects of logistics, central services and home delivery. He also is in charge of quality assurance and repair center operations.
He reports to Gary Van Elslander, president of Art Van Furniture, Warren, Mich.
"This is a huge job that includes managing our 1,000,000-square-foot warehouse along with 250 employees, over 200 trucks and efficient delivery of millions of dollars of inventory at any given time," Van Elslander said. "We're confident that he's the right man for the job and we're happy to welcome him to our leadership team."
Caprario joins Art Van Furniture with more than 15 years of experience in furniture distribution. His most recent position was senior vice president of operations, logistics and customer care for Manchester, Conn.-based Bob's Discount Furniture, where he was in charge of multiple distribution centers and a multi-state delivery operation.
Prior to that, Caprario held several vice president-level positions for Foley's Department Stores in Texas. Early in his career he also held positions in finance for Robinson's-May Department Stores and the Walt Disney Company.
"Becoming a part of the Art Van Furniture group is such an exciting opportunity for me," Caprario said. "It's a highly respected organization in the furniture industry throughout the U.S. and I look forward to making significant contributions to its policy of unmatched customer satisfaction."
