IM Centers Names Rieck General Counsel

By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on April 9, 2012

Kim Rieck has joined International Market Centers as general counsel, a new position at the home furnishings and gift showroom operator.

Rieck is responsible for all legal matters across the IMC organization. For the last five years, Rieck has served as senior vice president, general counsel and zecretary of Glimcher Realty Trust, Columbus, Ohio.

"We are pleased to have Kim join our organization to oversee and administer all legal matters for IMC, which will require a keen focus on commercial activities and transactions, REIT compliance, and building the required legal infrastructure for a public-facing company," said International Market Centers CEO Bob Maricich. "Kim's corporate expertise complements the strength of our existing capabilities. Jon Leleu is an incredible asset with regard to tenant affairs and local government in his role as in-house counsel for International Market Centers."

Rieck reports to Maricich and is based in Las Vegas.

At Glimcher, Rieck was responsible for all legal matters for the nationally recognized real estate investment trust, which owned, managed and developed enclosed and open-air regional malls as well as community centers. Prior to holding this position, Rieck served as outside counsel for Glimcher during his tenure with Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey LLP, an international law firm, where he specialized in commercial real estate law and corporate finance.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Rieck had an extensive background in the field of corporate real estate. He was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary to DeBartolo Realty Corp., a publicly traded company that owned and developed shopping centers. DeBartolo Realty was ultimately acquired by Simon Property Group to become the first ranked and largest real estate investment trust in the United States. Prior to that, Rieck spent 15 years in legal positions with DeBartolo including deputy general counsel and senior project lawyer. Rieck earned his J.D. in 1977 from Ohio State University College of Law and his B.A. in 1974 from Case Western Reserve University.
