Fla. Ashley Stores Win National Award

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on February 21, 2012

Ashley Furniture Homestores of Jacksonville, Fla., has recieved Ashley Furniture's Chairman's Award for community support programs.

"The Ashley Furniture Homestore brand is based on four pillars: value, quality, style and selection," said Howard Fineman, managing member and CEO of the three-store Jacksonville Ashley licensee. "But here in Jacksonville our team has a fifth pillar, which is giving back locally and that pillar defines who we are here in the marketplace."

Since opening the first location in 2005, Jacksonville Ashley Furniture Homestores community support programs have continued to expand as they now work directly with a number of Jacksonville-based organizations and causes such as A Hope to Dream, the Salvation Army (Northeast Florida Area Command), the Greater Jacksonville Area USO, and The Donna Foundation.

The Jacksonville Ashley Furniture Homestores were the first licensee locations to launch the A Hope to Dream program in January 2011, giving away nearly 150 beds in the first year. In addition to the quarterly bed donations, the Jacksonville Ashley Furniture HomeStores, in association with A Hope to Dream, teamed up with the Salvation Army to distribute an additional 50 Beds for 50 Kids over the holiday season. The Ashley Furniture HomeStores also actively participated in the Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs, in association with the Salvation Army and Action News, to bring unexpected home comforts to deserving local families during the holiday season.

Military families are another group the Jacksonville Ashley Furniture Homestores have been supporting for several years. Through their "We Proudly Support Our Military Families" program, they have been providing various forms of aid to military families since 2005. In 2011, they formally established their partnership program with the Greater Jacksonville Area USO (Help on the Home Front) and were able to assist an estimated 500 families.

"We are very proud of this partnership," Fineman said, "and look forward to even greater results this coming year."

Fineman will present the Jacksonville, FL USO with a special check for $5,000 later this month.

Furthermore, the Jacksonville Ashley Furniture Homestores have continued to support the fight against breast cancer through their involvement with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the American Cancer Society and The Donna Foundation over the past several years.
