Piedmont Group of IHFRA Donates $10K to Children's Hospital

By Home Furnishings Business in on September 22, 2011 The Piedmont Furniture Club of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association donated $10,000 to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., through its 25th annual golf tournament held last month.

The donation was earmarked for cancer research at the hospital and was made in honor of Fred Murrow and Jeff Murrow of Murrow's Transfer.

Dr. Thomas McLean, associate professor of pediatrics at Wake Forest University and principal investigator for the children€™s oncology group, and Erin McCloskey, events coordinator for Brenner Children€™s Hospital, attended the tournament and expressed gratitude for the donation to children€™s cancer research.

€œWe are extremely grateful to the Piedmont Furniture Representatives Association for their generous support of the pediatric oncology program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, McLean said. "Every dollar raised will go towards research directed at finding a cure for childhood cancer. So this gift helps not only children here in North Carolina, but children worldwide."

The tournament was a success with 28 teams. Sponsors for the tournament included the International Market Centers (IMC), Zenith Global Logistics, Wahlquist Management, SDJ Trucking, DeJong Enterprises, as well as Murrow€™s Transfer.

€œOur sponsors are the reason we are able to have such a great tournament each year," said Ray Jessup, Piedmont Furniture Club treasurer. "We are truly grateful for their support and participation."
