Discount furniture retailer
Factory Direct 4U Furniture in Tulsa, Okla., starts a going out of business sale today.
David Hagedorn, owner, said the closing was indicative of the economy.
Hagedorn started the company as an offshoot of the
Conkling Co., a lumber supplier to Asian furniture factories. Instead of taking payment for the lumber in currency, the Conkling Co. accepted finished furniture at factory manufacturing costs. Factory Direct 4U was created to sell that product.
"The decision to close the store has been a difficult one," Hagedorn said. "We have been in the furniture business since the early 1920s. We are a true furniture discounter in Tulsa. For years, we have offered our friends and neighbors the best quality products at outstanding value pricing."
Hagedorn said the store closing sale is part of the "changing world economy."
"This event will bring even better value pricing to the Tulsa community," he said. "We have concluded that given the current economic conditions we must move on to pursue other interests."
Hagedorn said the retailer will honor all existing orders, warranties and service agreements.
Deere Park & Associates is advising the company on the liquidation.
