MEGA Hosts Tempur-Pedic Roadshow

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedding on August 29, 2011

Tempur-Pedic brought its "Roadshow Experience" training program to home furnishings buying group MEGA Group USA's convention last week in Nashville, Tenn.

The Tempur-Pedic Roadshow Experience first hit the road in March and has made stops at retailers in top markets such as New York, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix among others. Because the training program is available on a limited basis, MEGA sponsored the event exclusively for its members to experience at its national convention.

On opening day of the event, MEGA retailer members received an afternoon of focused education on Tempur-Pedic's mattresses and pillows including consumer and product research behind the production, insight into the technology and manufacturing, and detailed information on Tempur's marketing and retailer support program.

"We are thrilled to sponsor the Tempur-Pedic Road Show training for our members," said Jerry Honea, COO of MEGA Group USA. "Because most of our members would find it cost prohibitive to experience the Road Show, we decided to bring the show to them. It gave our members more knowledge and confidence in selling the Tempur product."

David Wachendorfer, vice president of sales development and retail training for Tempur-Pedic, conducted the four-hour training session, which was designed to show retailers how they can achieve higher close rates, higher ticket sales, and enhanced customer experience with the Tempur-Pedic product.

"It was a great experience," said Brian Davis of The Bedroom Store in Maryland Heights, Mo. "Even though we have carried Tempur for 10 years, it was very beneficial. The presentation on the Ergo System was extremely helpful and provided some key insights for us to take back and close sales."

MEGA Group USA continued its four-day convention Friday with additional breakout and training sessions on a variety of topics including web services, social media, consumer finance, and more. The vendor show opened on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. immediately following key note speaker Jeff Korhan, expert marketer in new media, and closed Sunday at noon.

MEGA Group USA, Germantown, Tenn., has 1,600 retail members in 2,500 store fronts throughout the United States.
