Lloyd's Furniture Temporarily Closing, Downsizing

The long-running economic downturn and changes in the furniture market have forced the owners of the iconic Lloyd's Furniture shop in Somerville, N.J.,  to close its store and its sister store and regroup for the future.

The retailers is also closing Lloyd's French Shop on Davenport Street, said owner Jeffrey Silverman. He said he will reopen early next year in the space now occupied by the French shop. He said the two-story, 14,000-square-foot showroom at Main and Davenport will be leased.This was a very quick decision, Silverman said.
