High Point Market Names Judges for Showroom Design Competition

By Home Furnishings Business in on August 9, 2011 The High Point Market has announced a slate of judges for this year€™s Showroom Design Competition, held during market week, Oct. 22-27.

The 2011 judges are Margaret Russell, editor in chief of Architectural Digest; world-renowned interior design icon David Easton; and Tracy Bulla, senior product editor for Home Accents Today.

€œWe are very pleased to have such a distinguished group of judges for this year€™s competition,€ said Cheminne Taylor-Smith, vice president  of marketing for the High Point Market Authority. €œDesigners and retailers know that the High Point Market is the place where great ideas begin€”and that it€™s a fantastic showcase for fresh new merchandising inspirations. By highlighting and honoring our exhibitors in this competition, we hope to provide retailers with ideas and techniques that they can use throughout the year.€

Launched at the Fall 2007 Market, the Showroom Design Competition celebrates the extraordinary creativity and inventiveness of High Point Market exhibitors. All Market exhibitors are invited to submit photos of their best showroom displays for the October Market, with a deadline of 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.

The judges will vote for The Best of Market Award, which recognizes the showroom that best exemplifies design excellence. A second award, the People€™s Choice Award, honors the one exhibitor who captures the most attention at the Market and is voted on by Market attendees through Twitter and texts during Market. Both awards will be presented on Monday, Oct. 24, during the Stars Under the Stars concert.

Last year€™s honorees in the Best of Market category were BeeLine Home by Bunny Williams in first place, and Miles Talbott as runner-up. Four Hands won the 2010 People€™s Choice Award with the most votes from Market attendees.

Exhibitors who are interested in entering the Showroom Display Contest can go online for more information.
