Pierre Deux Stores Closing

Pierre Deux, a French-inspired home furnishings store on King Street, closed its doors last week. Gail Griffen, former manager of the downtown store, said in a news release announcing the closure that employees were told Thursday morning to pack their personal belongings and exit the building, locking the door behind them. Employees of the downtown store declined to comment on the closing. Susan Lucas of King Street Marketing Group said the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, which provides for liquidation of assets, and that all stores nationwide were abruptly closed Thursday morning.
