Officials: Furniture Market Still has State Support

The historic, $1 billion deal announced earlier this month that will bring the three main High Point Market showroom complexes and the World Market Center in Las Vegas under one ownership hasn't changed attitudes among top state officials about funding for the High Point furniture market.
State appropriations make up 40 percent of the $5 million budget for the High Point Market Authority. The state appropriations began last decade about the time that the then-rival World Market Center was opening as the main threat to the High Point Markets dominance in the U.S. home furnishings trade show field.
