At first glance, Kimball Hospitality and American of Martinsville appear to have had little in common other than they both made furniture.American closed last April and filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, displacing about 225 full-time employees. One of those employees was Steve Richardson of Bassett, who spent 11 years working in shipping/receiving and inventory at American.
