Contemporary furniture retailer Hillside Furniture and clothing designer Paulina Braiz-Harb will partner for a charity event to support For a Day Foundation.
Furniture Fashion for a Day is set for 6:30-10 p.m., Saturday, May 21, at Hillside's Bloomfield Hills, Mich., store, will celebrate the fusion of furniture and fashion and raise funds for For a Day Foundation's Metro-Detroit branch. The organization provides programs and events for children ages 3 through 21 in treatment for cancer. Through these programs, the children can rebuild their confidence and self-esteem during treatment.
In addition to designing clothes, Braiz-Harb owns the Paulina BH fashuon boutique, in downtown Birmingham, Mich.
The event will include a full fashion show, complete with a full runway, lighting and models. The show also will feature furniture vignettes from Hillside Furniture, exhibiting contemporary furniture collections with current color and texture trends, incorporating couture made by Paulina BH and made from the same fabrics and other materials from the furniture.
"I have always felt the furniture and fashion industries have evolved hand in hand," said Jeff Selik, president of Hillside Contemporary Furniture. "We have seen how the trends in both industries can influence each other when it comes to colors, textures, or materials. We have seen this evolution captured on film through the years, but for those who really don't understand how furniture is simply couture for the home, by attending this unique event, they will."
A silent auction for furniture and couture featured in the show will follow the fashion show. Proceeds from the auction go to the For a Day Foundation.
