The High Point Design Center is gearing up for next week's three-day Unity in Design event that will feature more than 50 designer-friendly showrooms.
Focusing on residential, commercial and kitchen and bath designers, Unity in Design is sponsored by the Association of Interior Design Professionals; American Society of Interior Designers, Carolina Chapter; International Interior Design Association, Carolinas Chapter; Interior Design Society; and the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
The event, scheduled for Feb. 9-11, is hosted by the High Point Design Center, an association of member showrooms that open to designers on a year-round basis.
The trend across the industry is that interior designers are becoming much more important as a distribution channel, and in fact, may become the primary point of sale for manufacturers at the high end, said Jeanne Glenn, executive director of the High Point Design Center. The reality in our industry is that retail stores are disappearing and have been for a number of years, and nowhere is that more emphatically true than at the high-end.
