HP Antique & Design Center Relocates to Market Square

By Home Furnishings Business in Business Strategy on January 12, 2011 The Antique & Design Center of High Point has relocated to a new home spanning 50,000 square feet on the ground and mezzanine levels of historic Market Square.

The center is a collection of more than 50 antiques dealers and artisans that launched at the October High Point Market in a stand-alone building at 229 W. Russell Avenue in High Point.

Karen Luisana, managing director of the center, said the new location will allow the group to "showcase antiques in a setting that better befits the products."

€œThe character of historic Market Square has long made it a favorite haunt of the Market€™s hippest buyers, designers and trend-setters," Luisana said. "Our goal in partnering with the Merchandise Mart Properties (MMPI) team today, is to preserve the sense of charm and adventure that so many remember, while creating a venue within a venue adjacent to Salon and the re-opening Boiler Room & Restaurant.€

The center organizers also worked to design the space so that it offers buyers an efficient way to shop.

€œDesigning the space from the ground up also enables us to craft an efficient shopping experience for our buyers,€ said Amanda Lane Kinney, marketing coordinator. €œThere€™s a circular flow here with multiple entrances and exists, and the new layout will be a boon to busy professionals at Market.€

A number of special events are planned for the new venue, including a provocative seminar series focused on the antique and design businesses. Seminars, featuring a slate of marquee speakers, will take place within the Antique & Design Center in a fully equipped education space on the mezzanine level starting Monday, April 4, at 2 p.m.

€œWe€™ve got a stellar, not-to-be missed lineup of world-class speakers that includes the likes of Shayne Hart, principal of Guild; Charles Hanlon, principle of Mayfair; and Bill Indurskey, award-winning designer, architect and co-founder of VandM.com, the go-to online resource for high-end, antiques, home furnishings and art,€ Luisana said.

Other buyer amenities in the new location include 50 dedicated parking spaces and a private entrance on West Commerce Avenue between Tomlinson and Jacob€™s Place.
