Cook Out at Broyhill; Succeeded by Stephens

By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on January 7, 2011 Furniture Brands International (NYSE: FBN) has shuffled its management team at Broyhill Furniture and Jeff Cook has been replaced by Mark Stephens as president.

According to a release, the company said Cook resigned his post. Stephens has been Broyhill's vice president of sales and marketing since 2007.

"Mark is the perfect choice to lead Broyhill today," said Ralph P. Scozzafava, chairman and CEO. "Mark and Jeff worked closely to re-energize the Broyhill brand with our dealers and with consumers. Mark also reorganized Broyhill's sales team into a more focused and effective organization. He has the experience and respect of his peers to lead Broyhill to the next stage of its storied history.

"We also appreciate Jeff's role in helping drive the transformation of Broyhill. For nearly four years, he brought energy and passion to his role and has been a valued member of our executive team. We wish him well in the future," Mr. Scozzafava said.

In a statement in the release, Cook said he had great respect for the Broyhill family.

"It has been a truly great honor to lead the company that bears their name," he said. "As part of the Furniture Brands portfolio, Broyhill today has access to tremendous resources and talent. I believe that Broyhill is well positioned to meet the needs of today's furniture industry."

Cook joined Broyhill in 2007 from his post as president and chief executive officer for Magnussen Home Furnishings. He has also held management positions with Sumter Cabinet Co. and Lea Inds.

Stephens said he was honored by the opportunity to lead the Broyhill team.

"For generations, Broyhill has been one of America's favorite brands," he said. "Our team will continue to deliver on that legacy through great new products, excellent customer service, and programs to drive sales and profitability for our dealers."
