3 Texas Ashley Furniture Homestores Close

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on November 30, 2010

Three Texas Ashley Furniture Homestores closed Friday, the Times Record News reported.

The report quoted an e-mail news release: "Ashley Furniture Homestores in Abilene, San Angelo, and Wichita Falls have temporary closed their doors due to shipping difficulties. A buyout negotiation has and will continue to be in progress."

San Angelo businessmen Tad Lanford and Rodney Bratton opened their San Angelo Ashley store in 2006, and acquired the Abilene and Wichita Falls Homestores in late 2007.

Monica Horton, president of the Better Business Bureau of North Central Texas, said in the report that Ashley's headquarters in Arcadia, Wis., did not know of the closing until Saturday.

"The store was closed by the franchisee," she said. "The headquarters told us to direct consumers to their consumer affairs department. They said consumers can call or email them."
