Furnitureland South has partnered with Broyhill Furniture and Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant a young girl's wish for a bedroom makeover.
Nine-year-old Alanna of Matthews, N.C., has a life-threatening medical condition, requiring that she spend much of her time at home. Alanna's wish is to give her "little-girl room" a more grown-up look. Volunteers will surprise her when they unveil her dream bedroom complete with new furniture, wall art, window coverings and bedding.
Room makeovers are a popular request for wish kids, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation fulfills more than 400 room makeover wishes each year. Through a national alliance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Broyhill Furniture will help grant 50 furniture and room makeover wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions across the country during the next year, and Furnitureland South is teaming up with Broyhill to help make a difference locally.
In addition to partnering with Broyhill to provide the furnishings for Alannas bedroom, Jamestown, N.C.-based Furnitureland South's design team is lending their expertise by creating a layout for the space, and selecting fun and colorful accessories. On Monday, representatives from Furnitureland South's Design and Delivery departments traveled to Matthews to install the bedroom furniture and add the finishing touches to Alanna's new room.
"We believe that anything we give to enrich, enhance or provide for the special needs of children is a worthy endeavor," said Vice President and Furnitureland South owner Stella Harris. "We are pleased to join Broyhill and the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honoring a little girl's wish to have a beautiful new bedroom. We hope Alanna enjoys her new surroundings and has many pleasant dreams in her 'Made to Order Bedroom' compliments of Broyhill and Furnitureland South."
