Customers at Ashley Furniture Homestores in Redding, Chico and Yuba City, Calif., are awaiting furniture and refunds, the Record-Searchlight (Redding, Calif.) reported Thursday.
The Better Business Bureau of Northeastern California is investigating 13 customer complaints about the Ashley stores received in the past months.
Customers who have complained bought merchandise at Ashley stores in Redding, Chico and Yuba City, said Barry Goggin, president of the Better Business Bureaus Northeastern California region, on Wednesday.
The bureau has asked in a letter to Ashley Furniture for the company to respond to the complaints, said the BBB's regional president, Barry Goggin, in the report.
"We want to specifically ask them to explain why refunds that are due and have been due" have not arrived, he said. "If a refund is due, they have a responsibility to issue it in a reasonable, timely manner."
Ashley Furniture Homestore owner Robert Myers began liquidating inventory at his three locations May 21.
Myers told the paper that he is working with SPCI, the Denver-based management company running the liquidation sales; and that customers will get their refunds and their furniture orders after the liquidation process ends, probably in August.
The Redding and Chico stores will remain open after the liquidation sales, he said.
