Hollandia International Opening Philadelphia Location

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedding on June 2, 2010

Luxury sleep system manufacturer Hollandia International, will open its new flagship store in Philadelphia's Old City District with an 11 a.m. grand opening ceremony this Friday.

State Senator Larry Farnese and Avi Barssessat, Hollandia's president and CEO, will speak at the event.  Refreshments will be served throughout the day, with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m. to coincide with Old City€™s popular "First Friday" event, in which galleries and businesses are free and open to the public.

"We selected Philadelphia for our U.S. headquarters in part because of the city's flair for design and fashion-forward sensibility," Barssessat said. "We are excited about our new home in Old City which not only allows us to serve our customers directly, but also contribute to a community that's rich in culture and internationally diverse with its myriad art galleries, restaurants, events and nightlife."

Since 2006, the Israeli company had operated a showroom within the nearby Marketplace Design Center which was open to consumers who were accompanied by their designers.

Hollandia's new store shares a block with the trendy women's boutique Third Street Habit, designer Matthew Izzo and Cafe Ole, an Israeli-owned restaurant. The store will showcase Hollandia's signature models, including the Executive bed system, which retails for $20,000 in queen size. It features a retractable flat-panel HDTV and Hollandia€™s superior Vita Talalay Latex mattress, offering a split core which is activated by remote control to lift head or feet for comfortable television viewing.

Hollandia has more than 120 locations in 12 countries, with more in the works; and has two showrooms in the United States, including the luxurious Short Hills Mall in Short Hills, N.J.
