Bob's, American Red Cross Host Blood Drive

Retailer Bob’s Discount Furniture and the American Red Cross  are teaming up with the New England Patriots to host the seventh annual “mega” blood drive and day of family fun at Gillette Stadium this weekend.

The blood drive will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Putnam Club. Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones is scheduled to make an appearance.

“The American Red Cross truly appreciates Bob’s Discount Furniture for being a valued sponsor  and  we sincerely thank the New England Patriots for hosting the seventh annual “mega” blood drive to help patients in need,” said Donna M. Morrissey, director of communications, American Red Cross Northeast division. “We urge eligible donors to remember patients during the holiday season and year round.”

“We’re honored to support the American Red Cross and their lifesaving services for more than 17 years.  We are pleased to partner with the Red Cross and the New England Patriots and provide a day of family fun at Gillette Stadium, while at the same time helping to save lives," said Bob Kaufman, president of Bob’s.

During the blood drive, all attendees will have a chance to enter to win autographed Patriots memorabilia and game tickets. In addition to sponsoring the event, Bob’s Discount Furniture is generously donating 20 furniture gift cards for recliners to be raffled off throughout the event.  Patriots legend Joe Andruzzi and other legends are scheduled to attend as well as Patriots cheerleaders.

Participating area high school bands and cheerleaders will attend and entertain during the blood drive.  Also, blood donors will be treated to Super Saturday at Gillette Stadium, which will host the six Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Championships on the same day. Twelve teams will compete for six state-wide championships on New England’s most famous football field, which will be visible from the blood drive.
