Pastel on Tap for 2014 from Benjamin Moore

Look forward to a pastel 2014, according to paint supplier Benjamin Moore, a unit of Berkshire Hathaway.

The company unveiled its Color of the Year for 2014 to be "Breath of Fresh Air" (color number 806)  as part of its Color Trends 2014 palette. Breath of Fresh Air is an ethereal blue that the company says will function as a neutral for a livable environment.

"We chose Breath of Fresh Air because we were seeing it across several different environments—it's our new neutral," said Ellen O'Neill creative director for Benjamin Moore. "Our Color of the Year and Color Trends 2014 palette is a direct result of the fresh color cues and pastel trends we've seen throughout the home furnishing, fashion and even pop culture landscape."

For the 2014 Color Trends collection, Benjamin Moore broke from the pack with a collection that is rich and enduring, while also being livable for today's homeowner or designer as each hue resonates with many different styles.

Benjamin Moore designed a palette of 24 colors that not only stand each on their own but also work well in harmony allowing the transitions of spaces and colors to flow seamlessly.

"We know that color is the ultimate form of personal expression, so we curated this collection to help consumers create beautiful spaces with confidence," O'Neill said.

The company's Color Trends for 2014 palette includes 24 paint hues that harmonize with one another to create an envelope for any interior design style.
