Capel’s Cindy Green Elected Secretary for Color Marketing Group

Capel Rugs’ product design and development assistant Cindy Green has been elected secretary of the Color Marketing Group, a leading international association of color design professionals.

In this volunteer position, Green will assist the color design professional’s association with a range of activities, including keeping the minutes for all board and executive committee meetings. She will also work directly with Sharon Griffs, CMG’s executive director, on various special projects.

Green has been a member of CMG for 13 years and is currently serving her second term on CMG's Board of Directors. She will serve a one-year term as secretary starting Jan. 1, 2019. Capel has been a long time active member of the organization.

Based in Alexandria, Va., Color Marketing Group is a leading international association of color design professionals. The association's members include designers, color scientists, consultants, educators and artists from a broad spectrum of industries, including furniture, rugs and floor coverings, wall coverings, automotive, and paint/coatings.

To gain insight into the most important new directions in color, "CMG holds a series of local and international ChromaZone Color Forecasting Workshops and Conferences each year in locations throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific," Green said. Members come together at these events to share color research, collaborate on color direction, forecast and select colors with the goal of enhancing the quality and marketability of manufactured goods.

"At our CMG ChromaZones, Conferences and Summit, the world's leading color design professionals gather to share their views on which specific 'trend drivers' and color directions are likely to have the most influence on future product design in the next two years," Green said. "By continuously collaborating, we can develop an accurate and relevant picture of where color is heading."

Input from these sessions is reviewed, analyzed and compiled into CMG's annual World Color Forecast, a valuable tool that association members use to shape the design of new products being developed for market.

Green joined Capel Rugs in 2017 from Global Textile Alliance, where she was the first designer hired by GTA and served for 14 years as senior designer. Prior to that, she was a stylist and print designer for Culp Home Fashions. She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts/design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

"Rugs are key elements in today's living spaces and, as such, they are meant to complement homes for many years to come," said Green. "Because of this, it is important for us to create relevant, fashion-forward rugs. Our CMG membership assists us in staying ahead of the curve, interpreting these emerging trends for our customers in a way that is timeless."
