Veteran Creative Director Michael Delgaudio Dies

Michael Delgaudio, a creative force at some of the greatest brands in the furniture industry and a veteran high-end visual merchandising executive, died suddenly on Nov. 10. He was 66.

Since 2017 and through the just-completed October High Point Market, Delgaudio served as creative director at luxury brand Marge Carson.

“Michael was in a class by himself, in the top tier of design and merchandising talent in the furniture industry,” said Will Sharp, president of Marge Carson. “He had an incredible passion for the furniture industry and what furniture could do for a person’s home – how the home enriched the life of a family.”

“Michael made a difference in this industry in ways too numerous to count. His reputation was impeccable, and he was gifted at mentoring, developing and inspiring young people professionally. His legacy is profound, and will live on in the companies where he made contributions, and in the many professionals he mentored,” continued Sharp.

Sharp added that in the year that Delgaudio served as Marge Carson’s creative director, “His impact was immediate and positive, and will be long-lasting. He had great respect for the history of Marge Carson, and helped to return us to our roots in California Casual luxurious style.”

Prior to joining Marge Carson, Delgaudio was at Sherrill Furniture Companies as creative director for Hickory White. Previously, he served as vice president and creative director for Henredon and as creative director at Century. He also had extensive experience in designer showroom and retail merchandising, previously serving as vice president and creative director for the 12-unit Beacon Hill Showroom network, and in design management for The Boyles Furniture Company.

Delgaudio is survived by his wife Julie; step-children Kristen Patten and husband Austin of Denver; Zach Walters and wife Nadja of San Diego, as well as two sisters and a brother and 10 nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Nov. 13 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point.

Memorials may be directed to the Hartley Drive Family YMCA, P.O. Box 6258, High Point, N.C. 27262 or to Loving Pet Inn Adoptions, 820 Gallimore Dairy Road, High Point, N.C. 27265. Condolences may be made through www.cumbyfurneral.com.
