42nd CIFF Shanghai Tips Balance Sheet with All-Time High

Organized jointly by the China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corporation (CFTE) and Red Star Macalline, these two furniture sector giants achieved new quality levels at CIFF Shanghai 2018. The exhibition gave international and Chinese operators new concepts of living and working, as well as new opportunities for acquiring information and doing business.

146,419 professional operators from more than 200 countries and regions—37% more than the 2017 edition— were provided with the opportunity to find out about innovations in the sector and conduct business at the booths of the more than 1,300 companies attending the fair.

The 42nd CIFF Shanghai edition’s success was the result of work conducted over the last twenty years, and of a new collaboration agreement aimed at creating a global business platform, at innovating and improving the fair, and showcasing innovations that improve the visitor experience.

CIFF Shanghai 2018 effectively helped changed the concept of “Made in China” into “Designed and Created in China”, according to a press release, partly due to the contribution made by over 90 high-level Chinese brands, attending CIFF Shanghai for the first time.

The quality and inventiveness of the products, the presentations, the architectural design of the stands themselves, and the contents of the organized events culminated in a successful recipe that resulted in the attendance of an extremely high number of designers, as well as dealers and buyers.

The fair hosted a series of key events, seminars, competitions and innovative initiatives, aimed at providing strategic and thought-provoking information that would transform into business opportunities.

One of the standout events was the 4th edition of the EAST Design Show, an exhibition of Asian design. The spirit of Asian craftsmanship, rediscovered in handmade objects was celebrated by the selection of leading companies, young designers and thematic workshops.

Design Dream Show, an event dedicated to the trends in contemporary home furnishing, was created by Red Star Macalline and Innovation Design Alliance, and resulted in resounding success, according to the release. Featuring a medley of installations that interpret living styles, even before furnishing, the event led to the creation of rooms that showcased ways of being, dreams and interpretations of private spaces.

CIFF Shanghai 2018 also included the award ceremony and the exhibition of the 2nd edition of the Pinnacle Awards Asia-Pacific, by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) and by High Point Market. During this event, it was reiterated how the products awarded in the 16 different competing categories will be easily accepted by and distributed in the international markets, and particularly in the U.S. market.
