Four Hands Reports Explosive Growth

Austin, Tx.-based Four Hands nearly doubled their revenue within a five year period, projecting $160 million in sales this year. The significant growth is credited to their loyal following, which includes over 12,000 business-to-business customers with notable retailers such as West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Neiman Marcus, RH, and top interior designers as well as over 500 trade applications per month from those wanting to become registered Four Hand customers.

Their acquisition of Austin-based Wonderwall strategically expanded the company’s capacity within the growing Art category, adding the U.S.-based production of handcrafted, made-to-order artisan frames to complement their existing artwork, photography, and specialty print products.

“We connected with Wonderwall over a shared passion for the intersection of art, design and interiors,” said Matthew Briggs, president and CEO at Four Hands. “Their team of artisans is producing creative solutions to modern framing needs to make art more accessible, which aligns with our mission of furnishing style across a variety of categories.”

As part of their overall growth goals and furthering their heavy focus on a comprehensive digital experience, Four Hands also acquired Austin-based technology firm Adaptdev. Adding Adaptdev’s team to their already robust in-house technology department is an integral part of Four Hands’ goals to implement a business to consumer experience for retailers and designers, which is rare within the wholesale space. Adding the technology team to Four Hands existing staff will speed up their B2B e-commerce capabilities to stay on top of the growing online demand.

“The addition of Adaptdev’s team and our ongoing commitment to digital solutions uniquely positions us to lead the industry in creating an unrivaled online shopping experience that makes it as smooth as possible for our wholesale customers to easily access information, get inspired, and source the latest in home furnishings for their stores or projects,” said Briggs.

With an Austin-based product development team and development team members on the ground in China, India, Vietnam, Mexico, and Thailand, Four Hands is able to introduce 900 to 1,000 new styles a year, offering customers about 2,000 products to shop from over 60 collections.

Four Hands has also added major warehouse spaces to keep up with the demand and plans to hire 20 new team members by the end of the year to add to their 182 U.S. based full-time employees. Their Austin offices will see a significant upgrade later this year when they bring in renowned architect Michael Hsu to transform their work space. The new design will build a world-class office with plans that include: larger meeting spaces, common areas, photography studio, more employee workspace, technology hub, and much more for a creative space fitting of the brand that demonstrated their impact on furnishing style.
