South Shore Expands Recall of Chest of Drawers

South Shore DresserReady-to-assemble furniture producer South Shore has expanded the recall of its Summer Breeze chest of drawers because it presents a serious tip-over or entrapment hazard to children if the unit is not anchored to a wall.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 68,300 of the five-drawer chests are part of the recall, including 3,500 that were recalled in January.

No injuries have been reported, but the CPSC said consumers should stop using the chests immediately if they are not anchored to a wall and move them into an area not accessible to children.

South Shore has agreed to provide a full refund or a free tip-over restraint kit to consumers. Consumers may contact South Shore at 800-290-0465 or by email at service@southshore.ca. Additional information also is available on the company’s website www.SouthShoreFurniture.com by clicking on “recall information.”

The chests were sold online through Amazon, Wal-Mart, Wayfair and other e-commerce sites from February 2005 through December 2016. They were sold in four colors – royal cherry, blueberry, chocolate and white.
