nuLoom, thomaspaul Set Rug Line

Textile and pillow designer thomaspaul and rug vendor nuLoom have forged an exclusive licensing agreement.

Under the agreement, thomaspaul will design a collection of rugs for both the thomaspaul designer brand and its more affordable brand, seedling by thomaspaul. The thomaspaul line will consist of hand-knotted, hand-tufted, shag and flat woven rugs targeting major online retailers in North America and Europe.

Both rug collections will be based on the bold contemporary signature graphic designs that thomaspaul and nuLoom are known for.

The collaborative rug collections will coordinate with the thomaspaul pillow collection as well as his other licensed programs including thomaspaul upholstery, outdoor fabrics, bedding, bath and lighting. This joint venture will extend the thomaspaul style throughout the home creating one cohesive look.

The designer behind thomaspaul is Thomas Paul Fernez.  Fernez studied textile design at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and began his career as a necktie and scarf designer. He founded the New York-based thomaspaul brand in 2001. The design concept is to mix unrelated historic design styles—art nouveau, 1960s pop art, 1970s minimalism, 18th century baroque—and reinterpret the disparate periods into a unique style with a coordinated color palette that works with today's interiors.

Each collection will include 10 designs in multiple sizes. The collections offer diversity in style through printed designs, highly textured hand woven wool shags, and hand-knotted natural fiber rugs.

The collection will make its debut at the High Point Market in April.

“Thomaspaul is an influential home products designer whose designs have redefined the decorative pillow category and we feel his style will bring that same impact to rugs” said Koorosh Yaraghi, president of nuLoom.
